On Monday, a WHO official stated that the successful adoption of digital health technologies in India can provide lessons for accelerating the progress towards universal health coverage for all countries.

Dr. Alain Labrique, Director of the Department of Digital Health, and Innovation at WHO, noted that while discussing digital health, one has to mention strengthening primary healthcare systems, improving universal health coverage, and timely and relevant data for decision-making and resource allocation.

On Indias G20 presidency, particularly in the context of digital health, Dr. Labrique stated that there has been a constructive set of conversations surrounding the G20, building on Indias long leadership in the domain of digital innovation and utilizing digital technology to achieve health for all.

During his session on "Digital Health Innovations and Solutions to Aid Universal Health Coverage and Improve Healthcare Service Delivery," he noted that the world is on the verge of an important digital health revolution. He added that in the post-pandemic period, investments in digital technology have seen an exponential increase.

He stated that the epidemic has galvanized many countries to go from digital experimentation to digital transformation, emphasizing the relevance and necessity of digital health. However, the global initiative on digital health has levelled the playing field, thereby optimizing investments, democratizing access to the building blocks, and improving the responsiveness that the country needs.
